Most seedbox comparison sites rank providers by affiliate commission, not by independent testing. Check any "best seedbox" list for affiliate tracking URLs in the "Visit" links — the rankings usually correlate with payout rates, not service quality.
This page compares major seedbox providers on verifiable technical facts: who owns the infrastructure, what storage redundancy exists, what happens when you exceed your bandwidth quota, and what legal jurisdiction governs your data. Where a competitor is stronger than Pulsed Media, we say so. Where PM is stronger, we say so. The data comes from provider websites, public registrations, and documented legislation — not from marketing.

Infrastructure ownership
Most seedbox providers rent servers from OVH, Leaseweb, or Hetzner, then resell them as seedbox plans. It is a legitimate business model, but the customer should know the difference: it affects pricing flexibility, hardware replacement speed, redundancy options, and who makes decisions about the physical hardware.

Pulsed Media is the only major seedbox provider that owns both its server hardware and the datacenter buildings. Whatbox and Feral own their hardware but colocate at third-party facilities. Everyone else rents from upstream providers.
When a provider owns the hardware, they control disk layout (enabling RAID), firmware, network topology, and hardware replacement timelines. When they own the building, they also control power, cooling, and physical security.
Storage redundancy (RAID)
A drive failure on a non-redundant seedbox destroys all data on that drive. On a RAID5 array, the data survives and the array rebuilds onto a replacement drive.

PM's M-series RAID5 at €6.99/month is uncommon in the market. Most competitors run non-redundant storage or do not disclose their configuration. If you store content that is difficult to re-download — private tracker content, personal media, large curated libraries — RAID5 means a drive failure is an inconvenience rather than total loss.
Post-quota speed
Every provider with bandwidth quotas eventually throttles you. The question is how hard.

At 10 Mbps (1.25 MB/s), seeding a 50 GB torrent takes over 11 hours. At 100 Mbps (12.5 MB/s), the same file seeds in about 67 minutes. If you exceed your quota on a budget plan from Ultra.cc or Seedboxes.cc, your seedbox is functionally dead for seeding until the quota resets.
Feral and RapidSeedbox avoid this entirely by not metering bandwidth. For heavy uploaders, that matters.
Privacy and jurisdiction
Your seedbox sits on hardware in a specific country. That country's laws determine who can access your data, under what conditions, and whether you have any recourse.

Finland is the only EU seedbox jurisdiction outside all formal SIGINT alliances with constitutional privacy protection, an active privacy regulator (DPA), and one of the highest Freedom House internet freedom scores globally (89/100). That combination follows from constitutional law, not marketing.

PM's pricing is the lowest or near-lowest at every tier, and it is the only provider offering RAID5 at any price. Ultra.cc's €4.95 entry undercuts PM on sticker price but delivers 1 TB (vs PM's 2 TB at €6.99) and throttles to 10 Mbps post-quota (vs PM's 100 Mbps).

How to evaluate a seedbox provider
1. Who owns the hardware? Not "who sells the plan." Who owns the physical server? Resellers inherit upstream pricing, policies, and maintenance schedules. Hardware owners control the stack.
2. Is there storage redundancy? If a drive fails, do you lose your data? RAID5 means you do not. Most providers run non-redundant storage without telling you.
3. What happens after your bandwidth quota? 100 Mbps post-quota is usable. 10 Mbps is not. Some providers are truly unlimited. Check the specific number, not just "unlimited bandwidth*" with an asterisk.
4. Where is the hardware physically located? Not where the company is registered. Where is the actual server? That jurisdiction governs your data.
5. Is the provider in an intelligence-sharing alliance? Five Eyes is the most significant. Nine and Fourteen Eyes still matter. Non-members with informal partnerships (Singapore) are a step below but not clean.
6. Does the provider include VPN, or charge extra? Some providers bundle VPN. Others charge €2.90-9.90/month on top. Check before comparing headline prices.
7. What are the real app numbers? "120+ apps" and "80+ apps" require scrutiny. Count the named applications on the PM features page. Marketing numbers consistently exceed verifiable counts.
